As our business continues to grow, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Retail Pharmacist to join our team. This position is pharmacy-focused, involving the dispensing of prescriptions, provision of professional healthcare advice, medication management, and support of day-to-day pharmacy operations.



About the Role


The Retail Pharmacist will be responsible for delivering high-quality pharmacy services, ensuring the safe and accurate dispensing of medications, providing professional advice to customers, and supporting the effective operation of the pharmacy.

The role will also involve working closely with pharmacy assistants, dispensary staff, healthcare professionals, and customers to ensure excellent service delivery and compliance with pharmacy standards and legislative requirements.



Key Responsibilities


  • Dispense prescription medications accurately and in accordance with relevant legislation, pharmacy standards, and professional guidelines. - Provide professional advice to customers regarding prescription medications, over-the-counter products, health conditions, and medication safety. - Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, dosage, interactions, and patient suitability. - Conduct medication counselling and support patients with medication adherence and understanding. - Manage and maintain accurate dispensing records and pharmacy documentation. - Support medication management services, including staged supply, dose administration aids, and medication reviews where applicable. - Liaise with doctors, healthcare professionals, suppliers, and customers regarding medication-related enquiries and patient care. - Supervise and support pharmacy assistants, dispensary technicians, and other pharmacy team members. - Assist with stock control, ordering, inventory management, and ensuring appropriate storage of medications. - Maintain compliance with workplace health and safety standards, pharmacy regulations, and company procedures. - Support the delivery of professional services, health promotions, vaccinations, and community pharmacy initiatives where applicable. - Ensure all work is completed with a strong focus on patient care, accuracy, confidentiality, and professional service.

Qualifications and Experience


  • Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent qualification - Current registration as a Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia / AHPRA or have provisional AHPRA registration in order to perform their duties under a licensed and fully registered pharmacist - Minimum 2 years of relevant post-qualification experience in a similar environment, retail or community pharmacy - Experience in prescription dispensing, patient counselling, and pharmacy operations - Experience with pharmacy dispensing software is highly regarded - Vaccination accreditation is desirable but not essential

  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy practice, medication safety, and relevant legislative requirements - Ability to dispense accurately and efficiently in a busy retail pharmacy environment - Excellent communication and customer service skills - Strong attention to detail and commitment to professional standards - Ability to provide clear medication advice and patient counselling - Strong organisational and time management skills - Ability to work both independently and as part of a team - Commitment to patient care, confidentiality, and ethical pharmacy practice - Ability to supervise and support pharmacy team members - Commitment to workplace health, safety, compliance, and continuous improvement
