BWS Electrical Pty Ltd is a locally owned electrical business based in Landsborough on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, servicing residential, commercial and construction clients throughout the surrounding region.
The business provides a broad range of electrical services including new residential construction, renovations, multi-residential developments, insurance-related electrical work, air-conditioning and solar installations, commercial construction, data communications, electrical maintenance, servicing and call-outs.
We are seeking a qualified Electrician (General) to join our growing team. This is a permanent, full-time position suited to an experienced tradesperson who takes pride in delivering quality workmanship, has strong attention to detail and enjoys working across a varied range of electrical projects.
About the Role
As an Electrician (General), you will undertake electrical installation, testing, maintenance, repair and fault-finding across residential, multi-residential and commercial projects.
The role will involve working on new installations as well as existing electrical systems, including wiring, switchboards, electrical equipment, lighting, power, communications and associated electrical infrastructure.
You will work across new homes, renovations, townhouses and apartment developments, insurance-related work and commercial projects, as well as undertake service and maintenance call-outs.
Depending on your licences, competencies and accreditations, you may also undertake or assist with air-conditioning and solar electrical installations.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine electrical plans, drawings, wiring diagrams and specifications to determine installation requirements and appropriate work methods.
- Install electrical wiring, cables, conduits, fittings, fixtures and associated electrical equipment in accordance with relevant specifications and requirements.
- Select, position, connect and terminate electrical cables, wiring, components and equipment.
- Install, connect, test, maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment used in residential, multi-residential and commercial environments.
- Install and work on electrical switchboards, circuits, protection devices, lighting systems, power outlets and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Use electrical and electronic test instruments to inspect electrical systems, trace faults and diagnose electrical problems.
- Test circuits and electrical installations for continuity, safety and correct operation.
- Identify and rectify faulty wiring, defective components and electrical equipment.
- Undertake electrical work associated with new homes, renovations, townhouses, apartments and other multi-residential construction projects.
- Carry out electrical work associated with insurance projects, including electrical make-safes, strip-outs, repairs and rewiring.
- Undertake electrical installation and maintenance activities on commercial construction projects.
- Undertake service work, preventative maintenance, electrical repairs and customer call-outs.
- Install and maintain data and communications cabling and associated systems where authorised and appropriately qualified.
- Undertake air-conditioning electrical installation work where appropriately licensed and qualified.
- Undertake or assist with solar PV electrical installations where appropriately licensed and accredited.
- Inspect completed electrical work and ensure installations comply with applicable electrical standards, project requirements and workplace safety obligations.
- Identify electrical hazards and apply appropriate isolation, testing and safe-work procedures.
- Communicate professionally with clients, builders, contractors, suppliers and other members of the BWS Electrical team.
- Maintain accurate job records and documentation relating to work completed.
- Comply with applicable workplace health and safety requirements, electrical safety legislation, company procedures and safe-working practices.
- Perform electrical work only within the scope of the employee's qualifications, competencies, licences and lawful authority.

Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant electrical trade qualification.
- Relevant experience in a similar environment performing electrical installation, maintenance, repair, testing and fault-finding duties.
- Practical experience in domestic/residential electrical work.
- Experience working on new residential construction and/or renovations.
- Ability to interpret electrical plans, wiring diagrams and technical specifications.
- Experience across multi-residential, commercial, service or maintenance electrical work will be highly regarded.
- Split-system air-conditioning or refrigeration qualification/certificate is desirable but not essential.
- Solar accreditation and/or relevant solar installation experience is desirable but not essential.
Skills
- Strong practical electrical installation, testing, maintenance and fault-finding skills.
- Sound knowledge of electrical wiring, circuits, switchboards and electrical equipment.
- Ability to use electrical testing equipment safely and accurately.
- Ability to interpret electrical plans, drawings, wiring diagrams and specifications.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
- Good time-management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work across different sites and adapt to changing project requirements.
- Strong verbal communication skills and professional approach when dealing with clients and other stakeholders.

Licences and Other Requirements
- Appropriate electrical trade qualification and licence/authority required to lawfully perform the duties of the position in Queensland.
- Current CPR and Low Voltage Rescue (LVR) certification, or ability to obtain and maintain this as required.
- Current manual driver's licence.
- Construction Industry White Card where required.
- Split-system air-conditioning or refrigeration licence/certificate is desirable.
- Solar accreditation is desirable.
- Ability and willingness to travel to customer, construction and project sites throughout the local service area.
- Ability to maintain all licences, competencies and training necessary for the electrical duties assigned.
- All electrical work must be undertaken in accordance with applicable Queensland electrical safety and licensing requirements.
